Mogami River Boat Ride

"Mogamikyo Gorge" is often remembered in connection with Matsuo Basho, the writer of "Oku-no-Hosomichi". Enjoy the beautiful sight of Mogami River while listening to the boatman sing as he rows the boat.

Sakegawa Kabuki / Kabuki Makeup and Dressing

Houjin-no-Ie (Houjin: a public servant who protected borders)

Houjin-no-Ie is said to be the only remaining housing in Japan that accommodated Matsuo Basho in Japan. Drink Japanese tea around the fireplace and think of Matsuo Basho’s long journey.

Shinjo / Mogami area is known as a birthplace of many famous manga artists, such as Yoshihiro Togashi, the father of HUNTER×HUNTER. The museum exhibits a variety of rare items, such as original manga pictures, donated by manga artists.
